Many people believe cats are operating on their own agenda, paying no attention to their own owner – given they have clean litter, food , and water. At times, cats can behave in unusual ways which can easily confuse their owners and make it very difficult to decide what the cat wants. As confusing as cat behavior can be, there are some ways you can solve common mysteries of cat behaviour.
A common behavior that almost all cats do is push their heads into any type of object that will allow them to do it. You’ve probably seen your cat do this before, probably against table legs, TV stands, or another object. This can be noticed more when you have other people who own animals or those with allergies over at your house. When a cat notices this, he will rub his head against the person. In doing so, he will put a touch of saliva on the individual. In a cat’s mind, he owns what he puts his saliva on.
That object or person will have a familiar scent by putting on something of his saliva. Although this can be very annoying, you have to understand that your cat is viewed as odd or weird by other people in your home. If a cat does that, it only wants to make the guest belong. He's trying to put his scent on them when he brushes up against them and puts his saliva on them – which in his mind will mean they belong to his territory.
Although it is beneficial to cat to mark someone or something with saliva, saliva is one of the most common forms of pet allergies. When somebody wipes off their saliva, the scent will go away and the cat will go back and try to do it again. Even though it may seem that cats target those with allergies, in fact cats are only trying to make the visitor belong to the house. If the guest is simply unable to take the saliva, let the cat rub himself several times on their pants leg. This is usually everything a cat needs to leave the human alone.
Many of you who would expect an indoor cat to spend quite some time lying by windows. You may hear your cat making very strange noises or strange moves during this time. But you shouldn't be afraid, because he's just acting out his hunting instincts. Whether it's another cat or an outside object that moves about, the cat will see it and just go into its native hunting instinct.
Cats love to play as most already know. They love to play with, particularly toys. On occasion they will pounce on things that should always be expected. If you try to discourage this kind of action, your cat will take a very negative attitude and you will end up in your home with a lot of broken stuff. You can also use a string to play with your cat, as he will love to chase the string around the house.
The longer you are in possession of your cat, the more unusual behavior you will see him exhibit. Cats treat themselves in odd ways, but they often have a reason to act the way they do. When you understand why your cat is behaving as he does, you won't have any trouble keeping him safe and happy. When you just pay attention to your cat and the manner in which he often behaves, you will be able to understand him better than ever.
