Some animals have had their owners abandoned. They end up in animal shelters hoping somebody's going to come along and give them a nice home. If you're talking of owning a feline, you 'd better know either or two things of foster cat care.
This will first be left inside the cat carrier when you bring home the cat from the foster home before they are able to be enclosed in a small room already. It will give them time to adapt to their new environment and one of the most suitable areas in the house is the bathroom that has to have a cat bed, a litter box, water and food.
If there are children in the home, one at a time with adult supervision, they must be cautiously introduced to the feline. We need to be told to handle it easily and talk to it gently so if you have children or kids, you can wait until they get older.
If there is a cat in the house already and the one you adopted adds to the number of cats, you will schedule a 2 week transitional period between them. Be mindful that there is going to be a lot of hissing so you should be present at all times so you can put a blanket around them so separate these two if a battle breaks out. Both will of course have a separate litter box and bath.
When you want to prolong your cat 's life, you must only use high quality cat food, and not the cheap kind. Feeding takes place once a day and you have the option to offer them nutrients such as Omega 3 fatty acids.
By law, cats are supposed to wear an identification tag so you'd better get one if you don't have one yet. The cat 's name, name, address and contact number are written on the tag so that someone can get in touch with you in the event that it gets out of the building. Another alternative is to insert a microchip embedded under their skin.
Some cats weren't qualified toilets. If this is one of your issues, you should teach them so they know that when nature calls, this is the place to go. The best move is to get them down to the box when you see they 're about to do something. If you see them doing that, strengthen it by giving them food as a reward and thereby creating this habit.
Apart from offering food and shelter for the adopted pet, you can also give them a scratch pad to prevent instances of unwanted furniture damage. This will preferably reach 3 feet in height and be placed near where they sleep or next to the furnishings.
If they scratch the furniture anyway, don't scold them. Just carry them to the post, and focus their attention.
You must also trim it every two weeks, as their claws get sharp. If you've never done it before, ask your vet to instruct you so that this is done properly and does not do any damage to the animal.
Foster cat care can be a challenge considering that there is a lot to be learned. You'll be able to enjoy each other's company by giving your new friend continuous love and attention.
